Back on the campaign trail
Mandy has been offered and has accepted the position of co-ordinator of the European Environmental Paper Network (EEPN), so she is once again at the helm of the campaign to put our paper consumption and production on a sustainable footing.
The EEPN is a coalition of more than 60 human rights and environmental non-governmental organisations, which want to see the paper industry move towards an ethical and sustainable future. Mandy was the co-ordinator from 2005-2009, then she moved aside to concentrate on her writing.
Mandy said, 'While I was away world paper consumption has continued to rise and there are still too many cases of human rights abuses and deforestation attributable to the paper industry. I feel it is important to return to the paper network and I hope that I can boost its campaigns in the coming months.'
Mandy has significant expertise on environmental and social issues associated with the paper industry. Her book, Paper Trails: From Trees To Trash - the True Cost of Paper, explores in depth the impacts of our paper consumption.
Mandy will be tweeting as @paperistas in this new role.
