Lost Eden
A quartet of novellas, one by me, the other three by Margaret Elphinstone, Douglas Thompson and D P Watt. The quartet is based on the idea of a formal garden in four sections. Each four-part novella features a formal garden, and explores the idea of gardening as a way of relating to the natural world.
My quarter is set at Inverewe Garden, in the 1940s, when a stranger arrives by boat into Loch Ewe and is shot by the owner of the big house (loosely based on Mairi Sawyer), who mistakes him for a bear. Mairi, her housekeeper, a gardener and the stranger, Arthur, find themselves entangled in a mystery.
